Job Description

Tasks and Responsibilities :

• As part of the ship’s security force, perform as access Security Guard on the various access points to the ship when in port
• As part of doing fire round patrols as directed by the Chief Officer Safety, carry out security patrols of the ship’s public and service areas
• At all times, as Security Guard or fireguard, acts in a professional manner and reflects the Company’s image of excellence
• Access control of people, property and stores onto and off of the vessel (where appropriate) which includes processing all guest and crew carry on items through the gangway X-ray equipment to identify potential threat items carried within and observing guests and crew going through the gangway metal arch scanner
• Conduct pat down searches of personnel as directed
• Conduct physical searches of luggage/stores
• Check Guest and Crew ID cards when boarding
• Has the authority to stop anyone without approved ID from entering the ship
• Enforce all ship board crew regulations and report all improprieties
• Escort discharged crew members while processing out
• Secure and preserve evidence in any personal injury accident, crime scene which has been committed in their presence
• Assist in embarkation/disembarkation of port pilots
• Render assistance to guest and crew where and when necessary
• Additional duties as directed by the Chief Officer Safety or the Security Officer

Requirements :

• Deck Watchkeeping Certificate required; proficiency in steering
• Six months to one year experience as Quartermaster cruise or passenger vessel preferred
• One to two years experience as Able Body Seaman considered
• Prefer Bridge Watch Standing experience
• Good communication skills
• Flexible in day-to-day activities
