Job Description
Tasks and Responsibilities :
• Familiar with terms used in the machinery spaces, and knows the names of machinery and equipment relevant to the duties
• Familiar with all water, sewage, and waste handling systems throughout the vessel
• Coordinate with carpenters and electricians to facilitate the smooth execution of common maintenance objectives
• Test backflow preventing valves and vacuum breakers valves as required by USPH
• See that all new installations comply with USPH requirements, with particular emphasis on air gaps and air breaks
• For planned maintenance, particularly in Guests’ or Crew accommodation area:
• Make adequate provisions to avoid damage to fixtures, fittings, and decorations before beginning work
• Upon completion, remove work materials tools; when necessary, make immediate arrangements for Housekeeping to assist in cleaning the area
• Undertake all work in compliance with Flag Stage, Classification Society and local regulations, particularly regarding safety matters relating to burning, cutting and welding, as well as the handling and use of chemicals
• Compile repair specifications for work required to be undertaken during turn-around and refit periods
• Follow the muster list and special instructions as issued by the Master and Chief Engineer
• Assigned to an “On Call” duty
Requirements :
• Minimum one year experience as Plumber on large cruise vessel preferred
• Familiar with USPH guidelines
• Familiar with modern evac system, Loro vac , loro X and pressfit pipe system
• Proficient in the following skills: – Welding, Electric and Gas – Fabrication including metal work and pipe work
• Good command of spoken and written English, clear concise speech and good radio discipline
• Must be flexible and hard working
• Must have eye for detail
