Assistant OHS Manager – Data Center
Job Description
Tasks and Responsibilities :
1. EHS Strategy & Program Development
• Develop and implement a robust Environment, Health and Safety management system for data center construction.
• Establish EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines tailored to data center project environments, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and job safety analysis (JSA) to proactivelyaddress potential safety concerns.
• Implement an EHS culture by providing strategic leadership, training, and engagement initiatives to promote best practices.
• Evaluate EHS risks during site selection, design, construction, and commissioning activities and ensure actions are taken to mitigate risks.
• Establish risk mitigation goals and develop metrics, dashboards and/or scorecards to track/communicate/drive progress.
• Conduct daily site inspections and report findings.
• Support issuance and verification of PTW (Permit to Work).
• Assist in incident reporting and preliminary investigation.
• Ensure workers follow safe practices.
2. Compliance & Regulatory Management
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, federal, and international EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other applicable standards
• Maintain all required EHS permits, licenses, and certifications necessary for data center construction activities.
• Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and assessments to identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Interface with regulatory agencies, prepare reports, and manage compliance-related documentation.
• Periodically inspecting, auditing, and reviewing safe work practices to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
3. Environment, Health & Safety Management
• Develop and enforce safety policies related to data center construction, electrical safety, confined space entry, lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, heavy equipment usage, and other high-risk activities (HRA).
• Oversee contractor safety management programs, ensuring vendors and subcontractors adhere to EHS requirements.
• Lead and supporting incident investigations and root cause analysis, so that corrective and preventive actions can be identified, communicated globally, and implemented.
• Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills with the support of security team and ensubusiness continuity in case of emergencies.
• Drive supplier safety performance through safety leadership engagement, collaborative forums, and contractual assurance actions.
4. Environmental Compliance & Sustainability
• Monitor environmental compliance, including air quality, water discharge, hazardous waste management, and spill prevention.
• Develop sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency programs, carbon footprint reduction strategies, and waste management improvements.
• Work with cross-functional teams to achieve corporate environmental goals and sustainability benchmarks
6. Data Analytics & Reporting
• Being accountable for EHS performance metrics and implementation of annual improvement plans.
• Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to EHS, including incident rates, auditfindings, and compliance status.
• Ensure record keeping and prepare and present EHS reports to OHS Manager, Group OHS Head and senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Utilize EHS management software to document inspections, training records, and compliance tracking.
• Analyze leading & lagging safety metrics and communicate results to leadership to drive action and accountability.
Requirements :
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or any engineering degree, K3 – Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (Indonesia) or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or Diploma are highly desirable.
AK3 Umum (Ahli K3 Umum) Certification – Issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan / KEMNAKER).
• Hazardous Waste Management Certification (B3 – Bahan Berbahaya dan Beracun).
• Fire Safety & Emergency Response Training (Sertifikasi Pemadam Kebakaran Kelas D or higher).
• 10+ years of EHS experience, preferably in mission-critical construction environments such as data centers, industrial facilities, large-scale construction projects, oil and gas, mining and manufacturing.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing EHS programs for construction environments.
• Experience working with global EHS standards, ISO certifications, and sustainability initiatives.
• ISO45001/ISO14001/ISO9001 Certified internal auditor/lead auditor will be a plus.
• Knowledge of Indonesian labor laws, Permenaker (Ministerial Regulations), Indonesia’s
K3 regulations and Latest Environmental Regulation including AMDAL (Environmental Impact Assessment) requirements are essential.
• Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and safety best practices.
• Ability to conduct investigations, audits, and compliance assessments effectively.
• Able to manage up and escalate issues or concerns when required.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in EHS management software and data analysis tools.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and decision-making skills.
• Experience establishing successful partnerships with internal and external teams to execute tactical initiatives or equivalent; Comfort interfacing with site leaders and senior leaders.
• Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability and experienced in a fast paced, changing/growing organization.
• Experience designing and implementing safety policy, processes and procedural documentation.
