Contract Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Contract Engineer to manage the full lifecycle of project contracts, from Pre-Award to Award, Post-Award, dispute resolution, claim handling, and financial close-out. Reporting to the Contract Management Head, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex, high-value projects with a strong focus on contract management.

Tasks and Responsibilities :
• Pre-Award Phase: Review contracts, prepare clarifications, and discuss with the Direct Supervisor before submission to Partners. If no draft is provided, create one for reviewing, gathering key project information and directions.
• Post-Award Phase: Assist the PMT in ensuring contract compliance, participate in internal and Partner meetings, and review or draft letters to align with contract terms. Maintain good relationships with Partners, resolve conflicts, and follow procedures for contract execution, change management, and dispute resolution.
• Support Variation Orders (VO) and Extensions of Time (EOT) in accordance with Change Management Procedure. Assist Procurement during vendor clarifications on Purchase Orders (PO), analyze Force Majeure events, and propose mitigation measures for contractual issues and project delays.
• Project Close Out: Assist the Project Control Manager in preparing the Project Close Out Report from a contractual perspective.
• Warranty Period: Assist the O&M Team in resolving potential contractual disputes with the EPC Contractor, Process Licensors, and Vendors.
• Financial Close Out: Handle Variation Orders, Liquidated Damages, and dispute settlements during Financial Close Out from a contractual viewpoint.
• Risk Management: Gather data on project risks, identify contractual risks with the Direct Supervisor, and document them in the Project Risk Register. Facilitate Risk Management workshops and implement mitigation measures.
• Internal Communications: Participate in meetings and stay updated on project emails to foresee potential issues, ensuring work execution aligns with contract terms. Liaise with the Procurement Manager on dispute resolution.
• External Communications: As needed, interact with Partners for contractual coordination and assist the Legal or Business Development teams in liaising with governmental bodies and external stakeholders related to the SAF Project.
Requirements :
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Contract Management, with experience working with foreign partners preferred.
• Strong knowledge of contractual frameworks in the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, and Construction industries (e.g., FIDIC).
• Good understanding of project scope and requirements, including technical knowledge.
• Strong contractual negotiation skills and knowledge of contract law within the petrochemical construction industry.
• Strategic thinking, planning, and strong organizational/time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
• High ethical standards and integrity.
• Team-oriented with experience in EPC invitation to bid (ITB) preparation and bid evaluation (priced and unpriced).
• At least 2-3 years of experience in EPC contractor management during execution phases (projects valued over USD 30M).
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
Desirables :
• Experience in Ammonia, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Engineering, or EPC industries.
• Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Contract Management or Project Engineering) are a plus.
