Job Description

Tasks and Responsibilities :

• Responsible for complying with/performing Safety/Environmental/Emergency Response duties as assigned.
• Reads and acknowledges documents as assigned in VMS (Virgin Management System).
• Consistently maintain STCW and/or any other required certifications as described in the training matrix.

Galley Sanitation carries out all cleaning duties assigned by the Head Utility including but not limited to :

• Taking care of personal hygiene and grooming.
• Always wear the required PPE related to job function being performed.
• Follows the environmental policies and procedures for chemical and waste management.
• Keeping the galley chemical lockers well maintained, clean and organized.
• Replenishing the three-bucket system during operation for all culinary team.
• Cleaning of all floors, drains and drain scuppers in galley areas after culinary has swept all debris from their areas.
• Cleaning of hand wash stations, waste receptacles and refilling of paper towels and hand soap dispensers.
• Cleaning of walls and ceilings and attached fixtures such as fire extinguishers and eye wash stations around the galley not including the pass, fridges, freezers, blast chillers and walk-in fridges.
• Cleaning of elevator landing areas immediately surrounding the galley food delivery areas.
• Cleaning of aft food transportation elevators and maintaining food transportation corridors and surrounding areas clean and free of storage items.
• Washing and cleaning of all waste bins using the trolley wash bay.
• Collecting of all garbage accumulated in the scullery areas, pulper pantries, deck 4 culinary preparation areas, excluding cardboard boxes, pallets and wooden crates.
• Operating, cleaning and maintaining the various ware wash, dishwash, glass wash and potash machines according to the training standard.
• Operating, cleaning and maintaining the three compartment sinks.
• Washing, rinsing and sanitizing of all culinary utensils, pots and pans and storing them back in the operational locations.
• Cleaning all electrical and non-electrical equipment listed in the Equipment Cleaning Assignment, including the designated hood systems.
• Cleaning of the Gunbae hood removable parts as per schedule.
• Clearing the ware wash and scullery areas of all dried, clean items and placing them back in the operational locations.
• Collecting all dirty chef towels, rags and any Shipeats bags from the galley and taking them to the laundry for processing.
• During operation assists Head Utility to re-stock pans and equipment on the service line for the chefs to assist with a seamless service flow.
• During service assists the Head Utility with removal of dirty pans and equipment on the service line for the chefs at the pick-up points.
• Refills and stacks plates in required sections.
• Operating, feeding, cleaning and maintaining the food waste pulpers.
• Sorting and separating garbage.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Minimum 1 year experience in 4/5 stars hotel
• Punctual, organized, friendly, knowledgeable
• A true professional, a ship guru
• Open minded, approachable and purposeful
• All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position.
• Basic knowledge of personal hygiene, public health and sanitation.
• Good command of the English Language
