Job Description

Tasks and Responsibilities :

• Frequent visual inspection of the Recreational Water Facilities while in operation and see that the SMS and VSP procedures are being followed.
• Carries out daily operation for Recreational Water Facilities. Maintains water quality as per SMS and VSP instruction as directed by the Environmental Officer.
• Verifies levels of pH and free Halogen.
• Maintains adequate water temperatures in Recreational Water Facilities.
• Completes records for Recreational Water Facilities as required by SMS and delivers them daily to the Environmental Officer.
• Checks frequently filter operation, water clarity, dosing and calibration equipment and accurate readings.
• In the event of Accidental Release follows procedures set in SMS and fills in required form.
• Reports any deficiencies to the Environmental Officer.
• Carries out preventive maintenance on Recreational Water Facility equipment according to public health requirements as directed by the Environmental Officer.
• Opens and closes Recreational Water Facilities (placing and removing nets where applicable).
• Takes precautions during rough weather to enhance safety.
• Maintains storage of all pool related chemicals under the guidance of the Environmental Officer.
• Promotes the ship’s waste management and Environmentality programs.

Requirements :

• Minimum experience required working in a role responsible for monitoring and maintaining recreational water facilities
• Previous experience in pool operations
• Previous USPH experience with recreational water facilities or equivalent
• Previous deck work experience, chemical handling, maintenance and knowledge of plumbing
• Good communication skills
• Good maintenance of written logs and equipment documentation
• Flexible in day-to-day activities
• Good organizational skills
